Return of the male models

Last weekend my bestie mags came to visit. You might remember him from when we shared the greatest summer of funemployment evah. I taught him how the Spanish speak and he taught me how the French kiss. On this visit he came to present at my office, I know he might be hard to spot, but that's him above in the cardigan and slicked back heavily gelled locks. I tried to put a cayute picture of us together, unfortunately Mags deleted all of those off my camera because he didn't think the lens properly captured his good looks.

xoxo bestie.

Overheard in 52w14 #11

Remember how Lex was having trouble remembering how much she loves being heady? Well Alli helped us all remember.
Lex at 6:33 pm "Lets listen to phish"
[jenn continues watching a youtube video]
Lex at 6:37 pm: "Why aren't we listening to it?!"

pretty lex...

alli just found this beautiful photo (and tagged me in it on facebook) anyways, when i was 22, my orthodonist/next door neighbor came up w/ this nutty plan to fix the space in my teeth in only 5 days. i looked like a dorky awkward middle schooler, so i refused to leave the house. eventually my mom said i had to get out and come w/ her to brandsmart cuz she was looking for a new refridgerator. she told the sales dude that her fridge was 18 years old and he goes, "wow! thats older than your daughter!"

the genius plan didnt work. which rules becuase i love the space in my teeth. take that dr brilliant! (thats her real name)

Pahhhhhhti (that's Korean for Parrrrrtyyy)

*warning, for those of you on a time crunch, clinking on all the links below may result in a long trip down memory lane. However, you should keep in mind they'll also allow you to relive our past humiliations.

February 13, 2009 will mark the 1 year anniversary of 52w14. The past 365 days have been pretty incredible; America got a new president, the blog reached a high of 512 visits in one day (seriously, we don't know what happened either), and I broke the time-space continuum. There were also some really important personal milestones; Jenn got engaged, Lex was forced to face her heady past (several times) and cried (several times). Plus, we even time traveled. So, in celebration of Lex and I actually managing to keep up something for a whole year we're having a blog birthday party. (click on it to see it bigger)
Basically, Lex and I will sit around an asian Rainforest Cafe waiting to see who our real friends are. To make it extra fun (and egomaniacal) you are all to come dressed as your favorite blog post. I know this sounds rather difficult, but the possibilities are really endless.

A few ideas to get your creative juices flowing:
Valiant Knight
Suckah
Joey
Velociraptor
The Internet
A Tool

*The best costume will win a special prize. Photo entries will be permitted for those who do not live in the Big Apple and can't teleport.

Today's a big day for the good old US of A, and time for us to represent by helping out where we can. In case you didn't notice the awesome new blog on our blog roll. Our dear pal Benna is currently living in Rwanda where she's running a school for some QT pies like this guy:Not only is Benna teaching these kids invaluable life skills, like trust falls
and high fives
but she's also working on getting a library going and needs all the book donations she can. Shipping books can be quite pricey so she's come up with a great little plan to encourage all you givers out there to maybe host a little get-together, have your friends bring books, and throw in a couple bucks towards shipping (there are special book shipping rates, and if you're in the Big Apple her rents will even pick them up from your place and ship them out for you). Of course, don't let geographical limits hinder your efforts, and if you've got any questions email us. Also, you should really check out her blog, it's really neat.

Wrestling with the Big Apple

Last night Kim and I went to go see a movie. So...we headed to the heart of the Big Apple--Times Square! It was also coincidentally the same night that Notorious was opening, so we made sure to show up in style.*
We were then lucky enough to wine and dine at one of NYC's finest dining establishments--Red Lobster.*
We spent so much time showing the world how much we loved Times Square, and battling the ticket machines, that our movie was sold out.
We decided to leave the hummerzine behind and get a real big apple experience on the Subway. Thankfully we befriended some MTA employees who were super helpful and taught us how to use New York transit--I can't believe how cayute those subway cards are!
I don't know why people say that New Yorkers aren't friendly. I mean they just love to have fun--for goodness sake they even conga line in the stations!*
Kim was so overtaken with fun and emotion she forgot how to use her words.

Clownin' around on Jit Street

The illustrious Arijit Sen came to visit this week. As some of you may know, he's the man I've named the god father of my unborn children (I suppose there's a chance tequila and "forget me nows" might have been involved). Anyway, since it was Ari's last night out we had a little family reunion.
Even my daughter Melissa made it (disguised as a paper cut-out of herself in a clown suit).
It was difficult for all of us to say bye to Ari, but Kim seemed to take it especially hard when she collapsed into some christmas trees to poop and cry.
We miss you already Ari.

Who's got my heady miracle*?!

Today Phish released their summer tour dates. Once upon a time 52w14 used to do things like secretly fly to other states when I was in high school so I could see a show and then fly home a couple hours later. Or drive for 17 hours straight to sleep in a urine soaked hotel room with no sleeping bag (this honor belongs to the same lady who once peed on and then kissed a phish ticket.)
Anyway, Lex seemed to think we're a little older now and totally over that kind of thing. However, I knew she was wrong cause I could still remember the good times. You know, the ones where Alli and I used to hang out with tie-dye clad hunks and eat goo balls. (please note the heady glass bead on that rad hemp necklace I made)

Thankfully, I saw they were going to be performing in Camden, NJ--we LOVE Camden, NJ. Even just this last summer it could really bring out the Kid in us. Lex never has been able to resist the lure of Jersey, so she begrudingly caved. I also think some memories might have flooded back, like the time George Clinton crawled around on his hands and knees helping alexis find her cell phone.
And so we did something I think we both doubted would ever happen again. We entered the Phish ticket lottery.
Brah, I'll like totally be bummed if we like don't get tickets, man.
*A "miracle" is when some kind soul with awesome karma totally gives you a free ticket in the lot. Peace and Love.

QT PIE

This is about the exact moment that Alexis referred to Kim as a "CUTIE PIE!" last night.

Are the Gators playing in an important game or somthing...?

Do I look like a fire hydrant?

Today Alli and I took Coop and Mini Coop (leroy) to "dog beach". the boys were running around doing their thing so we sat down and watched. i was wearing only a bikini top with lots of skin exposed. then this giant chocolate lab came up behind me. it all happened in slow motion because i noticed the sound of running water before i felt the warm liquid cover my entire back. i stood up and screamed, "i got peed on!!!! what do i do!?!?!?" alli said through all her laughter to go wash it off in the ocean. i threw my phone at her, took of my shorts, and ran into the ocean screaming like a little girl. then i laughed. then i laughed some more. then the owner of the giant chocolate lab politely offered to let leroy pee all over his back...

waaaahhhhhhh

about a year ago i read marley and me. well most of it atleast. i didnt finish it becuase i knew the dog was gonna die and i just knew i wouldn't be able to handle it. lucky for me they decided to turn it into a movie. i had no intentions of seeing it, but alli reminded me about how much we hate angelina jolie and therefore we must see marley and me in order to support team jennifer aniston.BIG MISTAKE!!! we literally cried from the opening credits until about a half hour after the movie ended. ok ok it was a good movie but oh man. it was rough.

so i just wanna say, i love you leroy the most. and homer the second most. and i love you cooper and koa and doug and char and duncan and my new friend zoe and hektor and alpha and katie and every other dog i ever met in my whole life.
