A Masterpiece Partly Built in 52w14

Our favorite genius, Alex Chung, has just made some serious MTV history. For the last 6 months or so, after work he would come over with his laptop and a glass of ron zacapa rum and quietly build one of the coolest things MTV has done in a long time. He's the creative director/engineering director/business director/director of awesomeness of I want my MTv. It's basically a site where you can watch every single music video EVERRRR. It's getting ridiculously amazing press and the three of us over here at 52w14 couldn't be more proud of him. You must check it out.

West Coast Nerdo.

Nerdo moved to SF and I miss him soooo much. A few weeks ago, Jenn and I sent him a very special pink T-shirt present. Jenn is on the west side right now so she got to see it in all its glory.Don't worry Hektor, your "I am Nerdo's Turdo" shirt is on its way.

Big Shocker.

The Heat lost to the Knicks at their home opener. Huge bummer. However, I have to give props to Madison Square Garden for serving beer that comes with a pretzel in the handle.Brilliant.

OMG, It's Michelle Tanner!!!

I went to the union square barnes and noble today along with 8 billion other dorks to get the new mary kate and ashley book signed by none other than mary kate and ashley. However, once i arrived i wasnt entirely sure if i was there for MK and ash, or the president.

Step 1:Purchase book downstairs.

Step 2: trade in receipt for beautiful hot pink wrist band that gives you access to the 4th floor.

Step 3: Receive outragously long list of rules.
Step 4: Wait in outragously long line.Step 5: Get bag searched and remove coat before approaching the twins on stage becuase we all know how many mary kate and ashley assasins are out there hiding guns underneath their marc jacobs coats.
Step 7: Finally get your book signed and as angry as you were about how losery this thing you're doing is, you can't get that giddy smile off your face. Ashley you are 8 million times prettier than your sister. Sorry Mary Kate, you wear really cool clothes, but lay off the drugs. you look 10 years older than ashley.
Step 8: Exit the building and laugh at all the PETA protestors. Leave the olsen twins alone and go enjoy a cheeseburger..Final Conclusion: I wish i was an olsen twin.

We once thought November 4th would look a little something like this:

Luckily Jenn's absentee ballot finally showed up and things will never be the same.

The High Price of Having the Freedom to Choose

Was I wrong to assume that America would pay the postage for my absentee ballot? Nobody loves america more than me but, Yes, apparently I was.RETURNED FOR POSTAGE

i guess it was really dumb of me not to even check. oh well. i'll shell out the 42 cents to change the world.

It's always a good time in New Jersey

Benna and her dad picked me up and we began our journey to that other state across the river. Bye Bye big apple.Once we entered into Suburbia we did what any normal chain restaraunt loving person would do: headed straight to the cheesecake factory.
Apparently when we left the factory we got super lost on our way to our next destination, but i didnt notice becuase i was too busy in the backseat playing on my phone and making this for you guys:And then, we finally made it to the big event. The tour of the gymnastics superstars!! Except for all the parental escorts, we were by FAR the oldest ones there and we loved every second of it. The entire men's and woman's olympic gymnastics team performed for us, including shawn johnson and the perfect, wonderful, beautiful nastia liuken.
It totally rocked. perfect rainy saturday.

Lykke Toes

Last night was Lykke Li. She totally ruled.
So does the fact that Kalen broke her toe in two places and now has to wear a boot for four weeks.
In actuality, I wish Kalen a quick and pain-free recovery.

Next we teach Leroy...

so we can seg together

One Eyed Munchkin Tard Face

A Vendyful Time

Yesterday was the Vendy's, and it was a super fun time. Not all of us could be "Star" volunteers like Benna and get free hoodies, but Lex and I still decided to give it our all.

In fact we worked so hard, Lex was injured on the job--before the job even started.
In all seriousness though, bartending was super awesome. Despite the numb hands, we got to talk to a ton of people and we didn't even have time to be hungry really cause we were working so hard. Plus, we could drink on the job.
As much fun as we had, finally came the time to sample all the goods. Below you will find Alexis' favorite picture from the event. Something to do with me staring passionately into my arepa or something...
This is my favorite, because I'm enjoying the food with BENNA-the star volunteer of the Vendy's. Also, it looks like I have a bald spot.

Dylan McKryBaby

On the Season Finale of the Rachel Zoe Project:
Personally, I love Rachel and her husband Roger because they Love the Grateful Dead and have plans to name their first daughter Scarlet Begonias. Lex loves them because Roger decides to surprise Rachel with a 56 Porshe Speedster--the same car driven by the original Justin Bobby of the original 90210 (which Rog explains is Rach's favorite show of all time). When Rachel sees the wheels for the first time she gasps "You got me Dylan McKay's car." I must admit it was totally cayute and I was definitely driven to smile. However, unlike Alexis, I was not driven to tears...

This morning, when I reminded her about her actions and warned her I was blogging about it, we had this interaction:
Lex: I get to explain myself!
Jenn: Okay...
Lex: .........There's nothing to explain, I cried at the end of Rachel Zoe...

True Love

Once, when I thought I was dying (at a Phil Lesh concert) I texted (couldn't say it out loud and freak out my little sister who was there with me) my last words to Kim. They were "Uh Oh." (Which, btw, is basically short hand for "I've made a huge mistake" which actually seems pretty fitting for me).

Today, Lex invited a potential serial killer from Craigslist over. She Imed me her last words:

I win.

Halloween is coming...

and someone is VERY excited.

I Got a Golden Ticket.

This weekend I was lucky enough to be gifted a Golden Ticket to the Circus. We were so excited we started taking awesome pictures before we even got to the shin dig.

Excited:

Spice Girls:

Beginie:
Then our friend Astrid's dad dropped us off at the party. Since he so inspired the middle schooler in us we proceeded to take group shots as often as possible.
Then Jeff got us backstage so we could hang out with TI on stage and hit up the buffet. Sadly, Britney Spears did not show up because she knew Lex was in Miami and she would never betray her like that. Here is Jeff and his earpiece:
Also, Jessica came to town this weekend. That was really neat. So were all her souvenirs.
(don't her boobs look good? its cause she's on her period.)

Florida's Special

Only here would a parking lot magically morph itself into a lake in order for me not to have to run the errands my mom asked me to do.

wHOOT wHOOT Jessi

At first I was hurt because Alexis didn't include me in her birthday post. Then I realized who do I think I am? Clearly not anyone as awesome as our friend Jessica who rummaged up this pic of them from back in high school...

Is mah berday

25. old. officially too old to go on TRL. brutal, i know. i figured i might as well have the world's most fun day to get my mind off that little fun fact. Kim and I went to see a little piece of nyc history before it gets torn down. Check out the view from the press box. We played an imaginary game and made some magnificent plays. They should seriously considering drafting us. we'd be an awesome addition to the new stadium. But like all baseball players, the most fun time was the hang out time in the dugout chewin tobacco and spittin sunflower seeds. After our ball playing career came to an end, I met up w/ B. We rode the Ferris wheel in the toys R us times square. i wanted the red car w/ the yellow top and i got it, of course. You'd think after a day like this, it couldn't get any better, right? wrong. what happens next? no line at the shake shack!!!Jelsen met up w/ us and they presented me with a mini cheeseburger vacuum wrapped in brocoli. so good at gift giving, those innocents...

I spent the rest of the day with a few awesome poeple and did what i do best: hung out on the couch. Seriously this was the best birthday ever. i had the best day. thanks to all you guys for the birthday wishes and all the ridiculously awesome, thoughtful, fun presents. and thanks to kalen for pointing out that 99.9% of my presents had something to do with food.

Fleet of Phishes

Phish is back. In other musical news I went to see Fleet Foxes last night. Being that they are kind of a hipster CSNY who makes acapella cool, I was totally hoping for some sweet tie-dye spottings at the show. While I saw no psychedlic clothing, there was some awesome dude/soulmate in the audience who screamed out a request for Fluffhead.

But anyway, the show was really great and the band is very charming and talented.
And while normally boys in flannel with long hair who play guitar are totally enough to make me fantasize about french kissing with Jordan Catalano in the boiler room, they really won my heart with their witty stage banter about fun things like cupcakes and CW shows and Moesha.

Im finally "cool"

Finally...seriously..finally..i made it inside for a meal at The Waverly Inn..its this ridiculous restaurant in the west village that doesn't have a phone number..theyre obviously way too cool for a phone number..you can only get a reservation if you're "cool" enough...celebs love it...duh..so as silly and dumb as it is, i've totally wanted to go for like the last year..and my amazingly awesome family picked up on this and knew they were gonna be in town around the time of my 25th birthday and actually pulled off a reservation. the food was no where near as bad as i expected..i actually kinda thought it was delicious..the truffle mac and cheese was yuuuuummmm..and we saw steven van zandt (the dude from the sopranos and the E street band) and we saw rachel zoe!!! haha jenn and i are totally into her reality show right now so that totally rocked.

So thanks family. i really really appreciate what you guys did. you guys rock. i wish you lived here so i could eat like that all the time. and so i could hang out w/ you all the time..

oh and ps: i came home to a gift certifate to red mango from alli for my bday...COULD NOT BE HAPPIER!!!
