we've made the big move from apt 4awesome to apt 4fuckinawesome. leroy is not helping us unpack.

we're moving.

after 5 amazing years here, the time has come to pack up 52 and move out (tear). many of you have been expressing concern about the fate of this dear blog. if you could please focus your eyes to the top of the site, you will see that 52w14 is "more than an apartment, it's a lifestyle." we will always have a little piece of 52w14 inside us which means the blog will come with us to our new home. im not going to divulge the new address because this blog has made us way too famous and we dont want stalkers. see you in the new house!

#1 Grandma

Remember when Maruchy was into drunk dialing me, well now she's taken her amazing prose to the email lines.

For years now I've been telling my parents how I wanted a dog, but Mama & Papa were always very vocal that they thought it was a bad idea. Then, Hektor had a kid (1 of his 14) and all of a sudden the Moms was all about it. Except, I wasn't allowed to name him Baby Robot because she cannot pronounce "robot."

Anyway, Baby Buster (seen above) is coming home to meet the family for Christmas. I've been sending some emails around about my plans to bring him to sunny Miami & at some point my Dad sent some email about "flying with the dog"...Mom responded with the following:

"stop calling baby buster THE DOG, he has a name and whether you like it or not he is now part of our family. I am forwarding this to Jenn. We love you and understand your feelings but its done and he at least now has a name I can pronounce and I do not like you calling him THE DOG!!! Practice his name is buster"

Baby Buster

This is Buster/Baby Robot. I love him very much. He is the newest addition to the 52w14 family.

Buster can't come home to the big apple just yet, he is still a baby who needs to hang out with his mom & dad (Hektor). I just look at his picture all day waiting for our reunion. You can now look at it too. You're welcome.

i slipped on a banana peel this morning.

it was in real life, not in a cartoon. i know that jessica did an experiment to see if they really are slippery, but you cant really understand it until you're leaving your apt in the morning and out of nowhere you slip and fall into the wall. obviously you assume its dog poo, but then you look down and realize that you jsut had a real life cartoon moment.

its gonna be an interesting day.

the balick kids (dr. alli and andrew) are flying out to ny on nov 1 for the dolphins jets game. this will be all of our first times going to a professional sports game when its not sweltering hot outside. i think ill be fine with the cold, but alli and andrew, coming from miami and la, both bust out long underwear if it goes below 70. (im seriously not exaggerating). i saw that the forecast was 60 degrees with "brilliant sunshine" so i got real excited and showed them. andrew was dead serious when he responded... "woah woah...HIGH is 60!? im scerd.."
its gonna be a long, cold game for the balick siblings.

for the last three years, lindsay and i have been trying to make it up to buffalo for their annual chicken wing festival in hopes of entering (and winning) the miss chicken wing pageant. two years ago we missed it becuase i was in miami. this year we couldnt go becuase lindsay was in a wedding. next summer we are going, no questions asked. her mom was even trying to plan lindsays wedding for that same weekend, but lindsay said she had more important things to do.now that september 4-5 is marked in lindays outlook (that means its official), i started doing my research on what we need to do to prepare for the miss buffalo wing pageant. i found the details here and discovered some incredibly unfortunate news.

Contestants must be single and never married, not pregnant and between the ages of 17 and 23.

not only is silly lindsay going off and getting married a month before, BUT we are old folks who arent allowed to enter!! can you beleive it??? does anyone know how to get us ny state 23 year old fake id's??? regardless, were still going. we have 11 months and 16 days to figure out how to be a non married, non pregnant, 23 year old, chicken wing loving new yorker.

there should be a leroy in every borough.

today we volunteered with nyc cares, and painted this awesome mural on an elementary school in bk. jenn painted leroy and he will now forever be honored at PS 59 K William Floyd School. After taking the beautiful photo seen above, jenns back immediately looked like this. (cool scrunchie)

Let the Wild Rumpus Start

As you might know, 52w14 is no stranger to the mighty crown. As you might have somehow heard, Where the Wild Things Are comes out today.

Due to our incredible fame, we were invited** to an early screening on Wednesday night. Spike Jonze, Dave Eggers, Karen O, Cathrine Keener, Max Records, and John Hodgmen (and his iphone) all graced us with their presence. Then they gave us Max crowns.
(you might notice the nose picker in the back is crownless, just saying...)
The movie & the soundtrack are really really neat. You should partake in the fun.

**Working definition of "invited" in this post means we donated to 826nyc, a non profit (founded by Eggers) dedicated to supporting students with their creative & expository writing skills. There's a few around the country so consider paying your dues to childhood and helping some kids get creative.

i'm cleansing again.

this time i thought id ad a little extra torture to the deal. i got a beautiful cheeseburger manicure so everyday i wake up and look at my finger, and remember that i CANNOT eat a cheeseburger til a week from friday. its gonna be a looooong 12 days.

i did lots of fun things last night.

then i woke up and discovered this today. how on earth did i get undressed last night?

it was a real good birthday.

i rocked my new furry zebra blanket pants and went to the shake shack. thanks for everything, everyone.

so ever since iphone added picture messaging on friday, alli and i have been really into texting eachother photos of whatever we're doing. (i spent the weekend in indiana. it made for very exciting parts of my day). now that im back, its rainy and i got in bed with leroy and put on the dolphins game and sent alli this photo.then she responded with this photo.weird, huh?

1st best nights of my life.

ok...so long story short, i got picked to be in taylor swifts vma performance. i know i know..dream come true. anyways, i got to bring a friend (thank god because some talyor swift fans can be quite irritating). so about 3 weeks ago jayne and i filmed the first half of it on an nyc subway car til like 4am. we were dancing so close to her that she smacked me in the face with her hair. then, at the end, we hugged and i told her i loved her and it turns out she loves me too! today we got to go to the awards to film the 2nd half of her performance cuz that part was live. obviously we began the night by posing on the red carpet like any vma star would.right before we were about to go on..the producer came down with the look of death on her face. she told us that taylor won best female video, but in the middle of her speech, vagina-face-kanye came up on the stage and said that beyonce deserved the award more than her. taylor came down to us in tears. but since shes the amazing fantastic girl that she is, she sucked it up and rocked it. and now...here is the long awaited "world blog premeire" of my mtv debut!!!!

first off, at midnight, my mom sent him this HILARIOUS ecard (make sure you have your sound up). then, not only did i get to bring him to work on his birthday, but my new office/jenns office (oh yes, we work together now) got him this amazing birthday cake and a pig ear.if he wasnt full enough from that, his aunt jayne, knowing how much he loves to eat poo, got him this sweet new toy that freaks me out every time i see it on my brand new white comforter.unfortunately, his party got rained out, but it will be rescheduled and he will be able to enjoy his poochini at a later date.

today was my first day of work and lucky for me it was blood drive day! unfortunately, after giving blood i went to the gym and learned the unfortunate lesson that working out after giving blood is not a good idea. even though i was getting all dizzy i refused to quit. then, all of the sudden, my knight in shining armor walked in. gossip girls own dan humphrey was right in front of my face. i quickly came to the conclusion that it would be way too embaressing to puke all over the eliptical in front of him, so i made the responsible decision to get off and go home and eat a cheeseburger.

2nd best night of my life.

ive seen some pretty serious concerts in my life. ive seen crosby stills nash and young, phish (8 billion times), britney spears, neil diamond, mc hammer, boyz II men. ok ill stop now but the list goes on and on. my point is, last night taylor swift was the absolute BESTTTTTTTT ever of all time. lindsay and i will never be the same.taylor was so fuking cute and grateful to be performing at madison square garden. she said, "ive been waiting my whole life to say this. whats up madison square garden!!" and shed like stop all the time and just take it in and listen to the crowd and she literally had tears in her eyes. shes just the absolute most awesome cutest person ever.

temperatures in nyc FINALLY got into the 90s today(yay). lucky for jayne, she wore this lovely tiny hat she picked up in bolivia in order to keep the bright sun out of her eyes.

i really don't know what to think about t-pains remix(?) of the miami dolphins fight song. im pretty positive i hate it. i like the version ms. kadison taught me in kindergarten way better.

Ocean Puppies

Lex and I went to go see The Cove today. Lex bawled during at least half of the movie. However, I didn't even make fun of her because it was totally tearworthy. Not only are dolphins incredibley intelligent & awesome, they also love belly rubs--just like Leroy.
You guys should check out the movie. And save the whales.

a taylor swift dance off

i accidentally promised my extra taylor ticket to 4 different people, so i did what any normal person would do. i turned to my favorite rom-com, fever pitch, for inspiration. 4 poeple (jayne, jenn, lindsay, and caity) have been chosen to participate in the first ever, "A Taylor Swift Dance Off" presented by part of 52w14. If they choose to enter (which which obviously they will), they will be competing to pay me $85.

the dance off will consist of different rounds such as, freeze dance, tie dance, freestyle dance, etc(suggestions welcome). i will supply the alcohol. to be fair, they will be judged not on skill, but rather on effort and creativity. obviously the choice of music will be all taylor all the time. if you'd like to be a judge and/or just come to cheer them on/laugh at them, email me for details. good luck to all the contestants.
